I LOVE this faucet! November 14, 2009 maggie99 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've had the Delta Pilar installed for about a month and a half. I bought it because I really liked it's sleek looks, but I've become enamored with the touch feauture. After opening the box and seeing all the parts, I decided to have the plumber put it in when reconnecting my sink and fixing a leaky valve. It was the first touch faucet he's installed, and did take him a bit longer than regular faucets. He made sure the solenoid and battery connections were working properly, and the faucet has performed flawlessly since. It's a bigger faucet if you're coming from a small older style one, but it certainly isn't enormous and many that are being made now are much bigger. From bottom on counter to top is only 13 1/2".
The touch feature is so handy, you can turn the faucet on or off with the back of your hand, a pinky, an elbow, whatever's handy while your hands are filled or dirty. The water temp is preset by the handle position, which you can also use if you want to turn the water off or on "normally". I find I'm using way less water because I can easily shut it while washing and have it back on with just a touch. The spout and handle, which are the only touch sensitive parts, differentiate between a touch and a hold, and won't come on with a long touch time like a hold. The bottom of the two pieces have a non-sensitive black ring of about 1/2" so you can clean without the water coming on. This is a great idea, but I often accidentally brush up higher while cleaning and inadvertently turn the water on. Not a biggie, easy to turn off.
I hate sprayers that won't stay in place, and this isn't a problem with the Pilar. The pull-down sprayer docks nice and snug with the magnetic docking, one of Delta's great features. It easily changes between stream and waterfall and will stay in that mode without holding a button down - another nice feauture. The mode you left it in will be what comes on after shut off, so you can keep the waterfall flow if you want. The Pilar has a little blue LED indicator light at its base to show it's on, this will turn red when battery power is getting low. I was concerned about what happens when your battery life is waning, but Delta addressed this potential problem as well.
I haven't experienced any of the problems that a few posters have had. The only minor issue I have is that the spout overshoots the center of the drain, as it turns outward a bit instead of downward. This could create a potential for splashing at the front of your cabinet. I do have a rather small sink in this day and age of oversized sinks, and I've solved this by just keeping the faucet turned down and the water pressure low. It's plenty sufficient as it comes out nicely aerated, and I feel I'm really saving a lot on my water usage between the lower pressure use and the touch feature.
All in all, I think that this is a well-thought-out and well-planned product and we'll be seeing more of its type in the future. Even my 20 year old son is impressed and brings his friends in the kitchen to show off the "cool faucet". When it can be purchased for around $350 online or at Lowe's, high cost for the technology is not such an issue, as many good faucets cost as much or more. If and when this faucet needs replacement I would definitely get another Delta Touch faucet.
Oh, and the other problem I have is I'm now spoiled. I keep reaching out to other faucets expecting them to turn on when I touch them!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Pilar ToucH2O!!! November 5, 2009 Eclectic Entrepreneur (Columbia SC) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
We have had our Pilar ToucH2O faucet a year (since 11/08) and LOVE IT. So easy and fun! I am extremely picky and it exceeded my expectations. Makes working with raw meats so much cleaner and the water is always the temperature you set it for previously so I can keep mine on super hot the way I like it! :o) Also, imagine the possiblities of having paint on your hands, garden soil, etc...
My family loves it as well and my brother just bought one as well for his newly remodeled kitchen. My Dad installed both of ours so it isn't any harder than installing a 'regular' kitchen faucet.
Two days ago it appears the solenoid unit in ours went bad so we have very slow water flow. Called Delta and they are shipping a new one ASAP but if the slow flow bothers us until it arrives that there is a $9 solenoid bypass kit at most plumbing stores we can install until the new one arrives. No arguments at all and didn't ask for proof of purchase. This faucet costs more than the cheapie ones but I had to replace the 'cheapie' one TWICE in two years for poor construction that led to leaks and non-working parts so I'll stick with my Pilar! I will only update this review IF the new solenoid doesn't work out or another issue occurs.
For those of you who have read about it going on and off by itself - that is simply the batteries not touching correctly. Our battery pack got jolted by us shoving the garbage can against it one day it it did the on/off thing a couple times until we realized what it was and popped them back in correctly. Happy ToucH2Oing!
Awesome faucet August 29, 2009 P. Ruscica (CA, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is the greatest faucet. It is so easy to use, works as advertised. I have not had any of the problems the previous poster mentions. I find it great when washing dishes, you can use the side of your arm, fingers, back of hand. I also think that it helps to conserve water while doing dishes, I can easily turn the water on and off with a light touch without letting go of the pot/pan or the brush, fantastic.
Our previous faucet was a delta, they are great. We have the brushed stainless steel one, very smart looking.

BEST FAUCET November 27, 2009 M. Urich (englewood cliffs, nj United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Believe it or not i installed this faucet on a new 5 million dollar yacht in the galley. I replaced a $1,500 newport brass faucet that had issues but worked OK. This faucet is the best working unit bar none. Be reminded that you need a large sink or spray will go all over the place. I installed it on a SS farm sink 48 inches wide. Very easy to install. You will not find a better faucet anywhere with these features. Works like a charm.
