Great Buy! July 8, 2008 Barry Brightman (Charlestown, RI USA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a good looking unit and very easy to install. It took only minutes to install after getting the right hookups. It was purchased primarily because of the dripless feature and hasn't disappointed! {edit} I didn't see any of the previous reviews but I must say I have had none of these problems. Perhaps one of the reviewers has it right, that low water pressure is the culprit in the descending handle dilemma. And I didn't buy the faucet for the soap dispenser.
Response to the previous review January 21, 2007 J. Steven Lamperti 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was having the exact same problem as the previous reviewer. No pressure, even though the pipes were fine. I took off the pull out, and found that if you check the back end of the pull out, there are (on mine, at least,) two cylindrical plastic inserts that have, I believe, a filtering/pressure reduction function. When I removed these, the pressure through the faucet was fine. These inserts are inside the pull-out, and you may have to run water back through the pull-out to get them out. (That's what I did.)
Great design & functionality after an internal design change to fix a defect. July 18, 2010 A. De Marzio i purchased the 53p50ss in the summer of 2007 from local store. i like the looped handle design along with the pull-out handle and separate soap dispenser.
after nearly 3 years, i began experiencing the faucet shutting itself as many others have reported on amazon. i called price pfister last week and was told this "...was a common problem. in 2009, the ceramic disc cartridge was redesigned for two reasons : 1.) some California law and 2.) to combat the automatically shutting off problem". redesign part # is s74-570.
i received the replacement parts today and installed it. note: they also included a new brass retainer nut (part # 941-7110). both parts were emailed to me free of charge with simple instructions on the boxes.
now everything works as intended after the easy 5 minute repair. in 6 months, i'll post an update whether the repair is holding up.
note: the soap dispenser unit was made before ultra-concentrated liquid dish / hand soap became so popular. just add a tad of water to each dispenser refill to avoid it getting clogged.
